Tuesday's tip....or something like that:

So I'm a tad behind....
but I had to show you what we did in Make-n-Take last Thursday.  We used stamps from Impression Obsession.  I  embossed the hand with black powder on white cardstock.  I then embossed another hand on silver mirror cardstock (from the Paper Cut) and cut out ONLY the nail.  I cut a slit at the base of the nail in the white hand, slipped the silver nail in it, and taped it down on black.  The silver nail just naturally protrudes.  Next I used a red marker to color over the shaded area of blood and went over that with Ranger's Glossy Accents.
Stamped the sentiment in Ranger's Glacier White pigment ink and embossed with white powder.  Popped it up.  Done.  Powerful card for any time of year.

Tuesday's Tip
For any of you out there who are new to heat embossing, here's a little trivia for you....
Anywhere your finger touches on your card (or surface you are embossing) the embossing powder is likely to stick there.   Just tiny bits, but still stick.  You may not even notice it until you heat it and then you'll see it....black dandruff (or whatever color your powder is) all over your card!
Solution:  Your local craft store should have a small pillow that is filled with powder.  These little jewels are fairly inexpensive but really do the trick!  Rub this pillow over your surface BEFORE stamping.  This will absorb the oil from your skin and prevent powder from sticking anywhere besides where you stamp!!!

HI all!!
Yesterday, Monday, was an exciting day! Last week I got a call from some ladies in Ohio saying they would be in NC touring stamping stores. Stacy Rich had recommended Dorothy's to them, they looked us up online, saw that we were closed on Mondays and called to ask if we'd make an exception so they could visit. ABSOLUTELY!!! So late yesterday afternoon, we opened the doors for Kim, Linda, Pam, and Sandy from Ohio. They were so warm and sweet and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have them in our little one stoplight town! I told them my only regret was that they couldn't be here for Pink Flamingo night! They will visit more stores today and fly back home to Ohio later this evening. Thank you, ladies, for visiting us! And Thank you, Stacy, for sending them our way!

HoHoHo!!!!

Hello Everyone!!! I'm looking out the shop window at the beautiful snow...can't believe we have snow BEFORE Christmas!!! Yeah.....started pouring snow IMMEDIATELY after I'd opened the Hero box and priced everything for the debut this afternoon. So I'm blogging to let you all know that we won't be having the debut this afternoon, or the Stamp of the Month class tomorrow. HOWEVER both are rescheduled for January 2. The Stamp of the Month class will be 10-12:00 that morning and the debut will be 12:30-2:00 in the afternoon. Also, at the debut, we'll be doing a free make-n-take with 2 of their new stamps (while supplies last). If you're interested in the stamp of the month class, just call the shop. If it's during the time we're closed, just leave a message cuz I'll be checking in all during that week.

WE WILL STILL BE OPEN DECEMBER 22, 10-8:00 AND DECEMBER 23, 10-5:00. Still time for last minute shopping and gift certificates.

Remember we close tomorrow, Nov. 25, at 2:00, closed Nov. 26-27, and open on Nov. 28 for the Christmas card re-do class. Still have openings in that class so call or email if you want in. I need to know by tomorrow please.
